About Dan Antion

Possible Profile-2

“Husband, father, woodworker, cyclist, photographer, geek – oh wait, I’m writing this like I only have 140 characters. I am all those things, and more, and all of these passions present me with opportunities to observe, and think about things that I can’t write about in other places.”

He started his blog No Facilities to “catch the stuff that falls out, overflows and just plain doesn’t fit the other containers in my life.” He associates the blog “with people, towns, countries and situations which can be described by a lack of resources, attention to opportunity or those situations where the status quo just doesn’t include everyone.”

His family, a dog Maddie and two cats, Mimi and Mumu are featured in his blog from time to time. His daughter shares his love of woodworking, hiking and photography. Maddie keeps Dan busy, begging to play and take walks. Mimi and Mumu inspect Dan’s wood working projects, or sneak around in his home office. Dan’s lovely wife, a bit shy to photograph, is a strong behind-the–scenes support of Dan and his daughter’s projects, and adventurous outdoor activities.

Don’t miss Dan’s entertaining, and interesting weekly posts, One-Liner Wednesday, Thursday Doors, and Stream of Consciousness Saturday. Check out Maddie and Mimi’s recent great adventure. They went to London with Dan in Teagan Geneviene’s blog serial, Get Caught Reading, https://teagansbooks.com, a “zany and bizarre story encouraging people of all ages to read.” The intent was to catch Chris Graham, The Story Reading Ape reading, https://thestoryreadingapeblog.com. Other elite bloggers with their pets joined together on this mission and yes, after some harrowing escapades they finally caught the ape reading.

Dan the Techno-Geek

Not only do you get technical details on Dan’s woodworking projects posts, but Dan also has another blog site, Information Services, full of technical work-related things. “Observations, ideas, things I’ve learned the hard way, things I’ve learned from others, and things that drive me crazy about Information Management.” He “spent most of a 35+year career working with structured data in the orderly realm of systems development and database management.”

  1. Well, the moment I saw the header image, I was like oh wait, this is a familiar picture only to find Dan’s picture right below. You started off the right way, he’s a genius. I look up to him not just as a blog friend, but a guide, an inspiration and much more. You should ask Cheryl as well for she is a great photographer. Not sure if you’re connected.

Sharukh, thanks so much for your comment. Agree, Dan is an extremely talented man. Not to forget he has a great sense of humor, and he’s a great dialogue writer too! I’m not connected to Cheryl. What is her blog site? 💛 Christine Elizabeth

Teagan, thanks so much for your comment. Dan’s blog has been a favorite for a long time. I lived in Connecticut for about 10 years through high school. Enjoy his posts, and especially of the area around Hartford! Happy to promote your “zany” serial and direct followers to your incredible blog site! Huge hugs back! 💛 Elizabeth

Thanks so much Christine for this feature. I apologize for showing up late. I think you fell into a group of about 20 bloggers that WordPress determines I don’t follow. I’ve been reconnecting for about two weeks now. MiMi thoroughly enjoyed her adventure with Teagan. I think MiMi would love to travel. I also think I’m going to update my “official” profile photo to the one you chose. Thanks again.

Dan, you are so welcome. I enjoyed writing it up! It was fun including Maddie & Mimi in Teagan’s adventure. Agree, the new profile photo is the best. It shows your (maybe) preferred outdoors rugged look! 💛 Christine Elizabeth

Reblogged this on No Facilities and commented:
I was honored to have one of my sunset photos selected and shared by Christine Robinson, in her sunset header series. I also like the fact that she included my recent blog adventure with Maddie and MiMi, over at Teagan’s place. I think both Christine’s feature and Teagan’s serial speak to the community aspects of WordPress. I have met so many nice people through this blog, that it is hard to express my appreciation. I am going to turn the comments off on my blog. If you want to comment, please visit Christine’s blog.

  9. I’ll comment about this here because Dan has locked the comments for the post on his site:

I must say it’s good to see you finally! Maybe you are unaware of it but your gravatar image appears scrambled on my laptop, and always has. I thought this was on purpose, that you wish to remain mysterious, but now I can see your face clearly here! I don’t know if it’s a matter of resolution or something else, or if it’s only my problem or a wider one. Anyway, as I said, good to see you.

  10. Everyone has already raved about Dan, so I won’t swell his head any further other than to say, “Ditto.” 🙂 But I did want to say that meeting so many great people is one of my greatest pleasures with being part of the blogging community.

Such a great choice to feature Dan. He and I started following each other when we realized we had tuxedo cats in common. His posts never fail to inform and amaze me–even if I don’t get half of what he is talking about when he gets all techno on me! He has it right about the ‘community aspect of WordPress’ and I love that Dan is getting greatly due recognition for his contributions to our community.

Damyanti, I’d love to feature a sunset from Malaysia! That would be amazing. And of course I’d write-up a mini-bio of you too. I’m featuring Sharukh Bamboat from India for July. Coming up in a few days! Let’s plan yours for August! Please send me your favorite sunsets in an e-mail to… cerobinson39@cox.net I’ll take some information from your blogsite for the mini-bio.
