He was a legendary construction manager known for his exacting style and ability to finish every project right on time. His career started with the Austin Company taking our family to Italy, Greece and Japan. In the 90s he got his second wind, which took him to Riverside, California to the majestic Mission Inn renovation project, and finally to LA Fitness, a company he loved, and worked for until his final days. Dad was a prayer warrior and let his faith in God decide when the battle should end. It came on Easter Sunday at 5:a.m. Absolutely perfect timing, Dad. In Loving Memory of Babbo

Theodore Arthur Robinson Jr., 79, passed away after a three month battle with cancer, on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Riverside Community Hospital. His loving family surrounded him. A memorial service was held on April 2, 2016 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Riverside, California.

Mr. Robinson was born on April 8, 1936 in Danbury, Connecticut, the son of late Helen and Theodore Robinson Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Theodore, a brother, James Robinson and a sister, Judy Robinson Love.

Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife, Terri Myhrman Robinson, her son, Jeremy Russell, daughter-in-law, Rhonda, and grandchildren, Madison, Ayden, and Michael.

His former wife, Christine Heim Robinson, their son, Theodore III, daughter-in-law, Kimberly, son, Jeffrey, daughter-in-law Jennifer, and grandchildren, Brittany, Laurie, Emily, Audrey and Grace, survive Ted.

Mr. Robinson’s 30-year professional work career started in the United States as a road crew superintendent for the Austin Company. His work as construction manager with the Austin Company brought him to far-flung places such as Italy, (Barilla factory), Algeria, (GTE Manufacturing plant), and Greece, (Hellenic Aerospace Industry). In Japan he assumed the position Director of Asian Operations to build a base for Austin Company business.

After several years abroad, Mr. Robinson established the Robinson Construction Management Company in the United States, and settled in Riverside, California. He played a major role in the renaissance of Riverside’s downtown. He served as senior project manager for the California Tower Project, one of the most important recent rehabilitation efforts. He went on to successfully rehabilitate The Mission Inn, a National Historic Landmark.

After those projects he joined the development team at LA Fitness assuming the position Director/Senior Manager of Construction. Over a fifteen-year span, he oversaw the construction of nearly 150 popular facilities from San Diego to Seattle. His ability was legendary to get these clubs built and open on a very demanding schedule. For those fortunate enough to know and work with Mr. Robinson,”Ted,” several things stand out; his encyclopedic knowledge of the construction business, an unmatched zest for life, his boundless love for his friends and family, and his unquenchable appetite for sushi. Mr. Robinson will be deeply missed by his many friends, coworkers and family.

    What a lovely tribute to him, especially in the words of your sons, Elizabeth. It seems there was a lot of love in your family, as reflected in the photos you posted on what would have been his birthday. Very nicely done. I am so sorry for your loss, it is the same illness that took my father in law a few years back. Thinking of you. Hugs. ❤️

    I’ve been there, Elizabeth; watching my father-in-law pass was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
    But celebrating our loved one’s lives is far better than mourning their passing.

    Although I’m late on reading this, it is never the less, just as beautiful a tribute. This showed the celebration of his LIFE instead of focusing on a disease that took it from him. The pictures demonstrate just how special a man he was.
