It still ain’t glamorous, this business travel! You can quote the American businessman on that! It’s quite a different take on travel; long plane rides, all day business meetings, views from airplane windows, views from hotel windows, views from taxicab windows, and views from train windows. Most tourist attractions, like Disneyland all over the world, are missed!
It’s a wonder how this businessman takes such amazing photos on the fly! But, he does and here they are! With web based history thrown in for good measure. Not everyone has traveled to Taipei or Hong Kong, yet!

Taipei, Taiwan
Taipei, officially known as Taipei City, is the capital of Taiwan, a sovereign state in East Asia officially known as the Republic of China. The city proper is home to an estimated 2,693,672 people. Taipei, New Taipei, and Keelung together form the Taipei–Keelung metropolitan area with a population of 6,900,273, the 40th most-populous urban area in the world.
Fun places in Taipei that the businessman missed. 1. Vegas World Multiplayer Gameplay with more than 350 slots and card games. 2. In the XiMen district, The Snow King Ice Cream Shop with unusual flavors; ginger, curry, tomato, and bitter melon. 3. The Beef Noodle Festival in the fall. 4. The Xinnai Haunted, Weird Tunnel. In the middle lane, an old woman ghost sweeps the tunnel clean. Drivers can see the end of the tunnel, but can never reach it. Scary! 5. A Russian Restaurant, Salt and Bread, has a freezer room where you can drink vodka in freezing temperatures (they provide coats to wear). Cool!
W Taipei hotel is a superb 5-star hotel ideally situated in the heart of the city’s Xinyi district. Right below the hotel is the Uni-Hanku department store; this stylish and modern hotel combines luxury accommodation with an excellent location.
Taipei 101, formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center, is a landmark skyscraper located in Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan. The building ranked officially as the world’s tallest from 2004 until the opening of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai in 2010. In July 2011, the building was awarded LEED Platinum certification, the highest award in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design rating system and became the tallest and largest green building in the world. Fireworks launched from Taipei 101 feature prominently in international New Year’s Eve broadcasts and the structure appears frequently in travel literature and international media.
Hong Kong
The businessman says, ” Hong Kong is the bomb! New York vibe with an exotic twist of the orient, and the sensibility of the British!”
Hong Kong, officially known as Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, is a region on the southern coast of China geographically enclosed by the Pearl River Delta and South China Sea. Hong Kong is known for its expansive skyline and deep natural harbour, and with a land mass of 1,104 km² and a population of over seven million people, is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. Hong Kong’s population is 93.6% ethnic Chinese and 6.4% from other groups. Hong Kong’s Cantonese-speaking majority originate mainly from the neighbouring Guangdong province, from which many of them fled to escape wars and communist rule in mainland China from the 1930s to 1960s.

Hello! Well, this post really caught my attention because my husband and I have traveled to Taiwan and Hong Kong many times now on business and pleasure. I particularly love Taiwan if you can get out into the country. My husband has been many more times than I and has often explored mainland China as well. And the food! So fabulous. A completely different world but, oh, that awful flight over. I would never have made a good pioneer woman.

Thanks Barbara for your comment. Your probably saw a lot more interesting places than the businessman! No photos of food this time. I have some in a post from his last trip to Santiago and Lima. I’m adding 2 more photos,Tsing, Yi from the train going to the Hong Kong airport. Also another “something” he missed. It’s a lot of fun to travel along with him in this way! I can see how different it is there, and would like to see it someday.

Beautiful images of exotic places that I most likely won’t see in person…something about those long plane rides. I can relate to the businessman’s view…somewhat by necessity, the shots are from a distance. Not enough time to get up close and personal with the people. Great post, thank you.

It’s also a cheerful, peaceful theme. Would suggest starting with a free wordpress blog site. Then, decide from there. You have many upgrades available that you can purchase.
