Audrey Tugs at the Heart

~~~impress, influence, inspire~~~
Audrey’s Facebook comment on 9/12/14 says it all, “Apparently I’m moving to New York City today… Doesn’t seem real!” Audrey has already been in Featured Friends titled Inspiration on my blog site.   Her path to success is an inspiration for me, her grandmother, to seriously work hard at writing and have fun with it at the same time.
Well, it’s real, she’s there in NYC.  Again with more Inspiration for me as a trainee in the Joffrey Ballet Program. She’s living at the St. George Clark Dormitory, just one subway stop away from lower Manhattan. It’s perfectly located in the heart of the prestigious Brooklyn Heights neighborhood, one scenic hotspot!
I’ll follow Audrey on her dance journey. Over time look for more blog posts and photographs. In this first short write up, I can’t resist including a photo of very young Audrey when she started dance classes.
She had the knack of having fun with dance then, just as she does now.
Through the years she becomes a beautiful ballerina.
About The Joffrey Ballet Trainee Program
The Ballet Trainee Program of the Joffrey Ballet School is a four year program that is both competitive and intensive. From September through May, this program trains dancers in the classical ballet technique and artistry required for an active career in a professional company. The program demands a deep commitment on the part of the students and is recommended only to those students who are dedicated to working diligently and exclusively towards a professional career in dance.
At the Joffrey Ballet School, you will be exposed to all facets of the dance world, from choreography and music, to staging and costuming. You will see first-hand how all these aspects come together at the school, through the faculty who demand work of a professional grade, as well as the guest teachers and visiting artists with respected dance companies. As one trainee puts it, “Joffrey makes dance class seem like a real job, with the staff more like employers than teachers. You have a lot of people to impress.”
    In another life, I plan to be ‘an Audrey’. New York City AND dancing on stage – the pot at the end of the rainbow (although my first love would be jazz dance but I’ll take any kind of dance!)
    What fun it will be to follow these posts for an inside view.
